Travel Coach Application Process
ASA is currently accepting profiles for Travel Coaches for the fall 2011 travel season. Coaching a travel team is a large commitment that is fun and very rewarding. Travel teams typically practice twice per week for an hour and a half each practice. Games are on Saturdays, and half the games are home and half the games are away.
ASA recommends that travel coaches obtain at least an E license, but it is not a requirement. ASA will reimburse any coach for the cost of licensing courses (G, F, E and D). Course descriptions, prerequisites, and course schedules can be found on the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association’s website at www.mayouthsoccer.org under the “Coaching” section. There is an “ASA Library” at the Memorial Hall Library containing training books and videos.
Please note that you may put in a profile for a coaching position for any existing team even if there is already a coach. In addition, putting your name in to coach a travel team will not have any effect on the placement of the coach's child in a particular division. The player's placement will be based in the travel tryouts.
Thank you for considering taking on this valuable role. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Bill Souza at bsouza@excelmechanical.com.
